ILA & USMX Reach Tentative Agreement on 6-Year Contract
February 11, 2025 | On February 7, the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) Wage Scale Committee voted to unanimously approve a new six-year contract with the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX). A ratification vote for the full ILA membership has been scheduled for February 25.
USMX will vote on contract ratification after the ILA rank-and-file-member vote concludes. The new agreement is retroactive to October 1, 2024 and extends until September 30, 2030. Details of the agreement will not be released until ILA membership ratifies the vote.
The labor contract originally expired on September 30 last year and was extended until January 15 following a three-day strike in October. The two sides resumed formal negotiations on January 7 and agreed to a temporary six-year master contract on January 9.
