The Toy Foundation Assembles Industry’s Philanthropic & CSR Leaders to Ignite Measurable Collective Action

Meeting to Explore Opportunities for the Entire Toy Industry to Collectively Deepen its Impact for the Benefit of Children in Need

toy-foundation-logoFebruary 28, 2023 | The Toy Foundation (TTF) is hosting a first-of-its-kind meeting of toy industry philanthropic and corporate social responsibility (CSR) leaders on Tuesday, March 14. At the meeting, TTF will introduce its new Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Strategic Action Plan and discuss opportunities for companies of all sizes to deepen the impact of its philanthropic and CSR initiatives for the benefit of children.

In addition to TTF outlining its objectives and strategies, the meeting will highlight how TTF is currently partnering with toy companies to deliver play to children in need and invite attendees to share their company’s philanthropic and CSR initiatives. The goal is to discover how TTF and the industry can support each other in their shared commitment to deliver the extraordinary benefits of play to children in need, which in turn will help companies reach specific business goals and advance the toy industry overall. This impact and metric-based approach is the foundation of TTF’s new strategic vision and plan.

“The Toy Foundation’s new Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Strategic Action Plan demonstrates a strong commitment to deepening the impact of the industry’s philanthropy and delivering measurable value to companies of all sizes,” said Andy Quartin, CEO of Thames & Kosmos LLC and chair of The Toy Foundation’s Strategic Planning Committee.

TTF’s mission is to be the uniting force for the collective philanthropy of the toy industry. The joining of the industry’s leaders makes a powerful statement about the shared commitment to create a world where every child has the opportunity to experience comfort, joy, and the extraordinary physical, emotional and educational benefits of play.

TTF’s Mission, Vision, Core Values, and Strategic Action Plan are activated through three program areas:

  • The Toy Bank – Delivering toys and bringing joy to hundreds of thousands of children in need around the world every year.
  • Play Grants – Supporting emergency relief through grantmaking and aiding play therapy programs at under-resourced children’s hospitals.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – Attracting talented, diverse college and university students to careers in the toy industry.

"So much of what we do as an industry is focused on bringing joy to children,” said Pamela Mastrota, executive director of The Toy Foundation. “We are eager to collaborate with and learn from the industry’s philanthropic leaders to collectively deepen our impact in serving children in need.”

TTF thanks treasured partners Alan Hassenfeld, philanthropist and Toy Association Hall of Famer, and Nancy Molenda, executive director of Mattel Children’s Foundation, for their support in organizing this meeting.
