Members Committed to Assisting Ukrainian Families Amid Crisis

March 15, 2022 | The toy community has continued to come together to support the millions of displaced Ukrainian children and families impacted by the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

In addition to the charitable monetary and toy donations that continue to support The Toy Foundation’s relief efforts ($2+ million raised to date), which includes donations from Hassenfeld Family Initiatives, Aurora World, Basic Fun!, Bonkers Toy Co., Cra-Z-Art, Crazy Aaron’s, Faber-Castell USA, Hasbro, InRoad Toys, Jazwares, Learning Express, Melissa & Doug, My Gnome on the Roam, Paramount, PlayMonster, The Queen's Treasures, Spin Master, and VTech, others throughout the toy community are offering their assistance in additional ways:

Educational Insights, hand2mind, & Learning Resources

The family of companies is supporting relief efforts through United Hatzalah of Israel, a non-profit emergency response organization currently aiding families fleeing Ukraine with medical assistance, psychological support, supplies, and food. The funding efforts have raised $26,500+ to date and were first started by hand2mind employee Elina Saksonova, originally from Kyiv. The company’s Learning Resources UK office has raised money for the British Red Cross serving Ukraine and set up a special project team to create free educational worksheets by working with partners located in the UK and Ukraine as well as Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania. The family of companies is also supplying thousands of refugee children with educational toys and activity sheets translated into Ukrainian.

LEGO

LEGO is working to ensure the safety of its Ukrainian team and colleagues impacted by the crisis while donating $16.5 million through the LEGO Foundation and Ole Kirk’s Fond to emergency relief efforts focused on supporting children and families. The donation will be divided among its existing partners including the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Save the Children’s Ukraine Emergency Appeal, and the Danish Red Cross.

Mattel

Mattel announced a contribution of $1 million in toys and cash donations to support organizations on the frontlines aiding refugee children and families from Ukraine. The donations will go toward Save the Children’s Ukraine Emergency Appeal and Polish local charities, SOS Children’s Villages and Caritas Polska.

Moose Toys

Moose Toys is continuing to seek out ways to support Ukraine and has to date donated $100,000 to Save the Children’s Ukraine Emergency Appeal and provided toys to supply trucks meeting families of refugees fleeing the country.

The Pokémon Company

The Pokémon Company International made a $200,000 donation to its partners at GlobalGiving to provide humanitarian relief. The funds will be directed toward community-led organizations supporting families and children affected by the crisis.

TY, Inc.

Ty pledged to donate 100% of profits from sales of Beanie Babies during March to Save the Children to provide emergency assistance to those in crisis across Ukraine and the region.
