Ingredients:
- Water-based paint in brown, green, pink, and other colors in nature
- Construction paper
- Small paintbrushes
- Stalks of broccoli
- Covered work surface
Recipe for Fun!
STEP 1: Cut up the broccoli stalks in half so that the stems are separate from the florets. Try your best to have multiple sets for each child.
STEP 2: Set up the activity area, and distribute supplies, giving each child their own set of construction paper, paintbrushes, and broccoli.
STEP 3: Dip a broccoli stem into brown paint and press it evenly onto a piece of paper …that’s the tree trunk!
STEP 4: Dip the broccoli florets into green paint and press down multiple times on the paper on top of the brown “tree trunk”.
STEP 5: Dip other broccoli florets into other paint colors to create a floral arrangement to go alongside the broccoli tree – OR - Let the kids paint (with brushes or fingers) colored flowers and leaves onto the tree to complete the look. For young Picassos, let their imaginations run wild while they continue to paint a whole scene.
