New Partnership Expands Capacity to Support Play Therapy Programs

Partnership with Hope for Henry Bolsters The Toy Bank’s Reach in Bringing Play to Pediatric Care

toy-foundation-hope-for-henry-partnershipApril 18, 2023 | The Toy Foundation™ (TTF) announced a new partnership with Hope for Henry, a national leader in pediatric patient experience innovation. The partnership will enhance the impact of both organizations in serving under-resourced children’s hospitals, play therapists, children, and families across the country.

Importantly, the strategic alliance will:

  • Link TTF’s Toy Bank to Hope for Henry’s toy distribution system;
  • Connect TTF’s Children’s Hospital Play Grants hospital partners to Hope for Henry’s scientifically tested play therapy program;
  • And expand both organizations’ capacity to deliver play therapy to more children’s hospitals nationwide.

“Children’s hospitals have a record need for new toys,” said Pamela Mastrota, executive director of The Toy Foundation. “We are excited to work with Hope for Henry, support each other’s efforts to measurably improve a child’s well-being and hospital experience, and offer the industry new opportunities to deepen its impact in delivering the power of play.”

Help TTF bring the extraordinary physical, emotional, and educational benefits of play to pediatric care with a toy donation today.

Hope for Henry is reinventing how hospitals deliver pediatric care through innovative, scientifically tested programs that help hospitalized children confront the challenges of serious illness, adhere to their medical plans, and thrive. Its “Super Rewards for Super Kids” program delivers donations from The Toy Bank to children as a reward after taking the steps necessary to successfully complete a medical procedure. As a result of this program, procedures happen more quickly and with less anxiety and fewer risks; the healthcare system gains efficiency and significant cost savings; and children get better faster with fewer long-term negative side effects.

“The impact of these toy rewards goes well beyond play and distraction to support improved adherence and overall patient experience, helping children heal and thrive,” said Laurie Strongin, founder & CEO of Hope for Henry. “We are thrilled to partner with The Toy Foundation and look forward to working with toy companies to place toys in the hands of children in hospitals nationwide.”

Toy fulfillment is a high-cost component of the “Super Rewards for Super Kids” program and donations via The Toy Bank are needed. TTF is collecting a variety of toys — including plush, games, educational toys, and sensory products — to deliver to children’s hospitals nationwide. Following, donating companies will receive a full impact report including data, quotes, and photos.
