Toy Association’s Adrienne Appell Joins People of Play Panel to Talk TOTY Awards on August 18

adrienne-appellAugust 3, 2022 | Adrienne Appell, executive vice president of marketing communications of The Toy Association, will participate in a People of Play (POP) webinar on Thursday, August 18 that will highlight various industry award programs including The Toy Foundation’s esteemed Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards, which is taking place September 20 in Dallas, TX. Webinar registration is now open.

During the panel, Appell will provide details on the TOTY Awards and its move to a fall timeframe. Known as the “Oscars” of the toy industry, the upcoming awards will be celebrated on night one of The Toy Association’s 2023 Preview & 2022 Holiday Market at the Dallas Market Center. The awards program honors the top toys and games and serves as a key fundraiser for The Toy Foundation’s philanthropic work.

“A lot has changed since we last came together in person for the TOTYs, and this panel discussion will be a great opportunity to provide key insights into the shifting landscape of our industry, including how moving the TOTYs to fall will better serve finalists and winners as they look to gain media exposure for their hot holiday toys for the critical fourth quarter,” said Appell.

Other speakers on the panel include ASTRA’s Jenna Stirling, Licensing International’s Gisela Abrams, POP’s Mary Couzin, and TTPM’s Bob Glaser.

The POP Quarterly Webinar Series is designed to educate and inspire public relations and brand/marketing professionals across the toy, licensing, and entertainment industries. The three-part virtual event on August 18 will cover the shifting calendar of industry events like Toy Fair; international business opportunities; and awards program and fourth-quarter activations, like TOTY, that companies need to know about.
